General Information
PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

Bon View's preschool goals are to provide nurturing classroom environments and developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences, which enhance the children’s growth in the five major areas of development and in their spiritual and aesthetic development as well.

It is our belief that young children learn BEST by DOING, which is supported by Piaget’s research and current brain research. Therefore, Bon View is well equipped with manipulatives, materials and HANDS-ON learning opportunities appropriate for children 2 to 6.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES

ADMISSION is made to Bon View School without regard to race, creed or nationality. A child must be toilet trained prior to his/her entrance in the school for any program other than the 2's or Young 3's. Please note the age-admission guidelines for the various programs listed in the Program Information section.

CURRICULUM

At Bon View we use a “THEMATIC” Approach to learning, which is expanded upon by student interest and parent input. It is further enhanced by integrating the curriculum with Art, Music, Movement, Drama, Literature and Multi-sensory Experiences. Curriculum is age appropriate and geared to the interests of the children. Field trips and resource people further enrich and expand upon classroom experiences.

TEACHING STAFF

Bon View teachers are dedicated, college degreed and experienced former private/public school teachers. Our staff retention rate has remained high throughout our many years.

Our staff is composed of professionals who keep abreast of how young children learn together with the best teaching practices in Early Childhood Education through ongoing professional training.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

An ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE must be witnessed by the school’s Business Administrator or Directors prior to the child’s first day of school. Parents should contact the local Bureau of Vital Statistics in the state in which their children were born for this document. If you plan to enroll your child in this school, it would be wise to contact your local Bureau NOW.

Also, prior to the first of September of each school year every student is required to have on file a current COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA SCHOOL ENTRANCE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND IMMUNIZATION FORM which is completed and signed by a licensed physician and which is based upon a current physical examination.

You can find more information on our Policies and Procedures in our Parent-Student Handbook at the bottom of this page.

SNACKS/LUNCHES

Mid-morning snacks are furnished by the PARENTS of the children in the 2's, 3's/Young 4's, and 3-day 4's programs.  Parents of our 5-day 4's and 5’s students provide a lunch each day for their children. Parents in all the programs are encouraged to send healthy, nutritional food for their children.

TRANSPORTATION

Parents will provide transportation to and from the Bon View School AND on Field Trips as well.

TUITION FEES

Tuition is based upon the cost for the school year and may be paid by the year, semester or by the Tuition Installment Plan; through the years most of our patrons have elected to use this plan. There is a modest tuition increase each year to defray the cost of increased staff salaries and operational costs. A Schedule of Fees for 2012-2013 will be included with the Enrollment Data, which will be sent to all the new enrollees.

Play is much more than fun and leisure time for your child. It’s “work.” In fact, through the play process children learn “their way.” They connect their inside and outside worlds together and create their own unique experience. No textbook can teach that!
